I wished I had had more time in Manhattan but loved every minute I was able to be there.

I can see why it'd be nice to have a support group around you to help you come out, but as for Provo itself. Well, it's not that great.Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07030670931014478827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9017819815587524377.post-43504230662158111962010-06-01T22:53:34.928-04:002010-06-01T22:53:34.928-04:00@Chuck: Which parts of the city did you serve in? ...@Chuck: Which parts of the city did you serve in? And I am a little jealous of you being in Provo. Coming out on your own is hard, and it would be nice to have more of a support group nearby.

@naturgesetz: There is so much that a big city has to offer, but I do not deny that I do miss a little bit living in a city that had less than 8 million people in it, like Fredericton, New Brunswick with its 50,000 according to the 2006 census. It looks like a fun place to vacation, actually!

@pgf: I like Sinatra’s “New York, New York” more than the new fad of Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind.” Whenever I hear Ol’ Blue Eyes sing those dulcet tones, I melt with love for this city! (And we have some decent coasts here as well. Also, a New York beach on Long Island was just rated as the best in the country!

@Mister Curie: Hello! I have been to Philly a couple of times and go through it quite often on my way to and from DC. I’ll have to stop and wave next time! Either that or we will have to start having East Coast Moho parties!

@Public Loneliness: New York is definitely not the place to go if you are easily unsettled, but it offers so much! I love watching the people and realizing that every single person has their own story and their own reasons for being in the city. Even with the mess and the smells and the noise, I love it.

@Levin: You should come and visit and get the whole experience! Which Broadway shoes are you dying to see? Also, as to your wonderful question as to the difference in coming out here versus somewhere else where the church is more prevalent, you have inspired a whole new post I am writing on exactly that. I will let you know when it goes up!

@JonJon: I am here on my own, trying to find my way in the world. All of my family is on the West Coast, so I only see then once or twice a year.

@Ned: I feel safe here too. I have never felt not safe. And I completely agree with you that the media loves this city and that helps it endear itself to us so much. I fell in love with the city before I even moved here. (Plus, who doesn’t love seeing your city destroyed in countless ways in the movies!)Horizonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02302120147903111060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9017819815587524377.post-27533930562727956152010-05-31T00:02:31.952-04:002010-05-31T00:02:31.952-04:00I, too, love your city. It's partly because of the media exposure. We've all seen certain New York locations like Times Square thousands of times on TV and in movies. Both times I've been there, I felt perfectly safe, which I probably wasn't, but I just felt so at home. Both times I also attended church in what is is now the NYC
Temple. Just wanted to let you know that this Utah man relates to your enthusiasm for the Big Apple.Nedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05938186985738546670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9017819815587524377.post-4183278695199797422010-05-28T13:54:44.945-04:002010-05-28T13:54:44.945-04:00That's cool, so are you from there originally?...That's cool, so are you from there originally? (Of course there are some Broadway shows I simply MUST see...)

It does make me wonder, is it difficult to deal with all this in a place where the Church doesn't have such a prominent influence as it does in Utah? Or is it easier?Levinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05266083503558118970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9017819815587524377.post-48726754446418004032010-05-27T12:18:15.042-04:002010-05-27T12:18:15.042-04:00That is one kick ass place!
